The drive to support young people and professionals who earn a living in the art and cultural sectors arose from the impact that the recession and lockdown(s) have had on their ability to sustain earnings and to continue to make a living.
There is now an opportunity to provide a long-term solution that will support current and future generations of young people and professionals in the art and cultural sectors by empowering them with the knowledge and skills to prepare for and navigate economic instability.
The partners have used our combined expertise in training young people in the fields of creativity, entrepreneurship, coaching and soft skills, to design and pilot comprehensive online training courses and tools that will achieve the project’s mission. These are:
- Creativity and entrepreneurial training for young people
- Training art professionals in the delivery of creativity trainings for young people
- An interactive tool (digital creativity cards) to ensure engagement of learners
The delivery of the training by art professionals who have been negatively affected by the covid-19 pandemic also provides an opportunity for them to mitigate the financial impact on their livelihoods.
The achievement of these training goals is expected to yield the following benefits for participant young people and art professionals:
Young People
The training content integrates creativity and entrepreneurial learning, which will equip young persons with the skills and capacity to apply their creative talents so that they increase their chances of securing a stable income. They will also be motivated to approach both personal and community challenges with an improved skill set in new business creation in the art and cultural sectors, and a developed sense of initiative and entrepreneurship. In the long term, this will build their resilience muscle and empower them to deal with similar crises and economic uncertainty in the future, in constructive ways.
Professional Artists
Professional artists will improve their competences as youth trainers in creativity and will benefit from the opportunity to apply these new competences in a pilot training. In the long term their transformation as digital youth workers will enable them to maintain a stable income in the art and cultural sectors during periods of economic uncertainty. Another positive outcome is the opportunities they will have to connect, network, and collaborate with other art professionals from other countries.
The long term anticipated benefit of the project is to develop a generation of young people and professionals who are sensitive to community challenges, embrace uncertainty, and see it as an opportunity to apply innovative, collaborative, and sustainable solutions. Ultimately, the project will contribute to raising the participants’ levels of performance in their communities and local economies.
